THIS WEEKS HISTORIC TREASURE: WILL ROGERS STATE PARK & RANCH IN PACIFIC PALISADES. Will Rogers was one of Hollywoods most beloved personalities in the early 30’s for his roles in films, a radio announcer, a columnist an author, a true cowboy and skilled roper, philosopher and advocate for Native Americans. His home and ranch in Pacific Palisades is located on over 300 acres of land and today is a National Historic State park open to the public. The home has 31 rooms where the original furniture and art work are still displayed exactly the way he and his family lived in until his death in 1935. The house tours are usually offered to the public, but for now the grounds are beautifully maintained where peaceful walks can be taken throughout the property along the trails surrounding the home. The Santa Monica mountain range merges with these trails leading to a spectacular view of the city and ocean called “Inspiration Point” , or you can view Polo games on weekends which can be viewed safely by the public. This hidden cultural landmark in Los Angeles takes us back in time to remember one of Hollywoods iconic treasures and film stars.

EXPLORING HISTORIC LANDMARK IN LOS ANGELES: THE CAMPUS GROUNDS OF UCLA

This summer I took a stroll through one of the oldest universities in Los Angeles, the campus grounds of UCLA are a historic treasure sometimes over looked by angelenos, where you’ll not only discover a place with historic architecture but breathtaking landscape and gardens. Each building has a European influence and design representing true mastery of early California architecture. In the midst of a time in history where schools are shut down, the grounds are open daily where you”ll find a quiet place to walk, sit in the gardens and enjoy the setting of trees, fountains, a sculpture garden and open spacious lawns. This campus is a true reminder and inspiration towards the never ending process of learning and education.
